The City University of New York encourages all applicants to apply for civil service examinations using the Exams Xpress system, when available for a given title. Applying for examinations using the Exams Xpress system enables applicants to receive their written test admission cards and their examination scores more quickly.
The City University of New York realizes, however, that for some applicants applying via the web is not feasible. Therefore, we provide forms that may be downloaded and printed and, upon completion by the applicant and submission of the filing fee, will be processed in the same manner as those applicants who applied via Exams Xpress.
Information Technology titles are an exception; these must be submitted online.
To apply for a civil service examination outside of Exams Xpress, you must download the application packet containing the following items:
- Examination Notice
- Employment Application
- Training and Work Experience Test
- Foreign Education Evaluation Fact Sheet
- Claim for Veterans Preference Credit Information Sheet
- Claim for Legacy Credit Information Sheet
- Equal Employment Opportunity Demographic Sheet
- Special Accommodation Request Form
- Application Fee Waiver Request and Certification Form
- NYS Correction Law Article 23-A
Once you have reviewed the application packet, you must complete and submit the application packet containing the following items:
- Employment Application
- Training and Work Experience Test
- Claim for Veterans Preference Credit (complete and submit as appropriate)
- Claim for Legacy Credit (complete and submit as appropriate)
- Equal Employment Opportunity Demographic Sheet (voluntary)
- Special Accommodation Request Form (complete and submit as appropriate)
- Application Fee Waiver Request and Certification Form
- Filing fee
- NYS Correction Law Article 23-A
